Biography

Jeff Ostler, PhD, graduated from the University of Utah in 2007 with a bachelor's in biology. While there, he worked in the Sandy Parkinson lab studying chemotaxis in E. coli. Ostler then attended The Ohio State University, where he graduated in 2017 with a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics. There he worked in the David Bisaro lab, studying the molecular mechanisms of RNA-directed DNA methylation targeting DNA viruses in plant hosts. Ostler currently works as a Post-Doc in the Clint Jones lab studying stress-induced HSV-1 reactivation from latency.

Ostler married his best friend, Johanna, in 2005 and they have two wonderful children. In his limited spare time, Jeff is a die-hard Star Wars fan and avid table-top gamer. Some of his favorite games include X-wing miniatures, Axis & Allies, Gloomhaven and D&D.
