Food Animal Production Medicine and Field Services
Dr. Gilliam is an associate professor of Food Animal Production Medicine and Field Services at Oklahoma State University Veterinary Medical Hospital. Originally from Macomb, OK, he completed his DVM from Oklahoma State University in 2001. He practiced in a mixed animal practice in Dalhart, TX for two years before returning to Oklahoma State University in 2003 to pursue a residency in Food Animal Internal Medicine. Gilliam completed an MS in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences and became a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners-Food Animal in 2006. He served as a lecturer in Food Animal Medicine from 2006-2009 and became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2008. Gilliam became a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2009.
Gilliam's primary professional interests include beef cattle production medicine, internal medicine and bovine theriogenology. His primary research interests include welfare of production livestock and humane euthanasia.
