Carey is a registered veterinary technician and a veterinary technician specialist
(Ophthalmology). Originally from Yukon Oklahoma, Carey earned a AAS degree in veterinary technology from Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City in 1999.
After 11 years in private practice, she joined the technician team at OSU in 2004. She worked in the community practice department for two years before moving to the ophthalmology department in 2006. In 2012,Carey was promoted to the small animal technician supervisor, and in 2017 she earned her veterinary technician specialty (VTS) in Ophthalmology.
Carey's true passion is the client/patient experience. In 2019, Carey was named the Client Services Specialist and Reception Supervisor. Carey's new role will help achieve our hospital's mission to provide unparalleled veterinary care to our patients, clients and referring veterinarians.
Carey is a member of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA), Oklahoma Veterinary Technician Association (OVTA), and The Academy of Veterinary Ophthalmic Technicians (AVOT). She also serves on the OSU-OKC advisory committee for the veterinary technology academic program and is a charter member of the Academy of Veterinary Ophthalmic Technicians credentialing committee.
Carey has been married to her husband, Jeremy, since 2001. Together they have two sons, Caden and Carson. They also have three "fur babies"- Layla, an Australian Shepard mix, Winston, a Golden Retriever and Uno, a one eyed long haired cat. In her spare time Carey enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and watching OSU Cowboy football.
