Biography

Dr. Gilmour received her DVM degree from Michigan State University in 1986. After an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia, she completed residency training in ophthalmology at Veterinary Ophthalmology of New England (1987-1988) and The Ohio State University (1988-1991). Gilmour became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 1991. She was in private ophthalmology practice until 2001 when she joined the faculty at Oklahoma State University.

Gilmour's faculty appointment included clinical service in ophthalmology, research, and teaching ophthalmology in the curriculum. In addition to ophthalmology, Gilmour developed an interest in veterinary medical education. She was appointed a college Teaching Fellow in 2015 and was the recipient of the Zoetis Veterinary Teaching Award and the Regents Distinguished Teaching Award. Gilmour was appointed Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA) in June 2016, and was appointed to the permanent ADAA position in July 2018.

As ADAA, Gilmour oversees all student and academic affairs including Admissions, Curriculum and Professional Standards. Gilmour's goals for the college include developing a curriculum and culture that produces graduate veterinarians who achieve a successful and satisfying veterinary medical career, and supporting faculty development in education. Gilmour is a proponent of well-being, inclusion, communication and innovation.
